WORLD NEWS
⚔️Trump’s Primetime War Address Raises More Questions

President Trump delivered his first primetime address since the Iran conflict began, saying the war could end in two to three weeks while threatening all of Iran’s power plants. He indicated the Strait of Hormuz is other countries’ responsibility and nearly 1,000 pounds of enriched uranium would remain. Oil jumped over 7% and global stocks fell.
The speech highlighted ongoing uncertainty about military, nuclear, and economic outcomes. Intelligence officials estimate it would take months to a year for Iran to produce a nuclear weapon. The Strait remains closed, disrupting global fuel, fertilizer, and commodity supplies.
The briefing: Trump described Iran’s navy as neutralized and the Revolutionary Guard as weakened, though Iran disputed this and continued attacks. His timeline and strategy remain unclear, while Iranian officials signaled diplomacy could still be possible.
LAW & POLICY
📃White House Moves to Overhaul Presidential Records Law

The Trump administration declared the Presidential Records Act unconstitutional, arguing Congress cannot compel the executive branch to preserve records. Passed in 1978 after Watergate, the law prevents presidents from destroying documents. Trump has 34 felony convictions and a federal indictment for mishandling classified materials, some previously stored at Mar-a-Lago.
The move raises questions about public access to presidential records, and the National Archives’ ability to release materials five years after a presidency could be limited.
The risk: The DOJ says the law overreaches, and the administration argues records could still be accessed through negotiation. Removing the legal requirement would weaken transparency and reduce public oversight of executive actions.

:📈 Today’s Poll: Archive Authority
The Presidential Records Act was passed after Watergate to ensure presidential documents belong to the public. The Trump administration is now challenging its constitutionality, raising questions about how much access the public will have to records from this and future administrations.
When it comes to official presidential records, how should we balance presidential power with guaranteed public oversight?
POLITICS
⚖️Pam Bondi Fired Ahead of Epstein Testimony

President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi, announcing it on Truth Social and describing her as “a Great American Patriot.” Reports indicate Bondi requested to remain in her position during a White House meeting. She remains legally obligated to testify under subpoena regarding the Epstein files.
Bondi previously oversaw the Department of Justice in high-profile matters, and her removal appears related to differences in approach to certain investigations. The move signals the administration’s expectations for loyalty and alignment from senior officials.
The shakeup: Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will serve as acting AG, with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin expected as permanent replacement. Tulsi Gabbard may be considered for Director of National Intelligence, part of broader executive branch shifts that include Kristi Noem’s reassignment. Bondi must still appear under subpoena, the House Oversight Committee confirmed.

TODAY’S QUIZ ANSWER:
Pony Express
On April 3, 1860, the Pony Express officially began operations, revolutionizing mail delivery across the United States. The service used a relay system of riders on horseback to carry letters over long distances at high speed. It significantly reduced delivery time between the East and West coasts, cutting it down to about ten days. The route stretched from Missouri to California, passing through challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions. Although it operated for only about 18 months, it became a symbol of determination and innovation during westward expansion. The Pony Express remains an iconic part of American history and the development of communication.
