🏛️ Senate Passes $70 Billion Immigration Bill Amid Disputed Executive Fund
The Senate passed a $70 billion immigration funding bill in a 52-47 vote, allocating much of the funding to ICE and Border Patrol, with the legislation heading to the House this week.
The bill’s passage surfaced a dispute over a provision that would allow the executive branch to settle government grievance claims without statutory limits. Democrats pushed to restrict the fund; Republicans blocked those amendments.
The dispute: Senate Majority Leader John Thune dismissed the concern, pointing to assurances from Acting AG Todd Blanche that the administration had no plans to pursue the fund. Trump’s contradictory signals on the matter left several lawmakers unconvinced.

🏥 Studies Find GLP-1 Weight-Loss Drugs May Cut Cancer Risk
More than two dozen studies presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology conference found that patients taking GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound, and Mounjaro had lower rates of cancer, fewer metastatic tumors, and improved survival across multiple cancer types.
Among the findings: a study of 110,000 women found GLP-1 users were up to 35% less likely to develop breast cancer, while another analysis found patients were 38% to 50% less likely to see certain cancers spread.
The caveat: These were observational studies, not randomized clinical trials. Researchers say more research is needed before GLP-1s can be considered a formal cancer-prevention treatment.

🌐 Five Eyes Alliance Warns of Chinese Spy Recruitment Via LinkedIn Job Postings
The Five Eyes intelligence alliance issued a warning about a coordinated Chinese military recruitment operation targeting individuals with government or security clearance backgrounds through LinkedIn and similar platforms.
Operatives reportedly posed as HR consultants advertising analyst positions, offering payment via PayPal, Western Union, or cryptocurrency in exchange for reports on sensitive topics.
The denial: China called the allegations fabricated and characterized them as malicious slander. The warning adds to ongoing tensions between Western intelligence agencies and China over alleged espionage activities conducted through online platforms.
