🏛️ DNC Releases Disavowed 2024 Autopsy After Months of Resistance
The Democratic National Committee released an unofficial 192-page review of the party’s 2024 election loss after months of internal pressure from operatives demanding transparency. The report argues Democrats failed to effectively support Kamala Harris, leaned too heavily on identity politics, and struggled to connect with voters in parts of the Midwest and South.
DNC Chair Ken Martin publicly distanced himself from the document, saying it did not meet his standards and did not represent the party’s official position. Every page included a disclaimer stating the report reflected only the author’s views.
The details: The report was written by longtime strategist Paul Rivera, who had not worked on a presidential campaign in more than 20 years and completed the project part-time. Its release has intensified debate inside the party over what lessons Democrats should take into the 2028 cycle.

💻 Newsom Orders AI Workforce Study as Trump Shelves Competing Federal Order
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order directing state agencies to study AI’s potential economic disruption, including layoffs and hiring shifts, and calling for WARN Act updates within 180 days to better protect workers ahead of AI-driven mass layoffs. The order also covers severance standards and transition support for displaced workers.
Separately, the Trump administration shelved a planned federal order that would have had cybersecurity experts evaluate AI safety. Trump said he did not want any measures slowing the country’s lead over China.
The backdrop: A recent YouGov survey found most Americans believe AI is moving too quickly, doubt its economic benefits, and worry about long-term job losses. Neither party has staked out a comprehensive position on AI ahead of the midterms.

🌐 UK Stabbing Trial Goes Viral as Musk Offers to Fund Wrongful Death Lawsuit
An ongoing UK murder trial over the December stabbing death of 18-year-old university student Henry Nowak has gone viral online, with Elon Musk comparing the case to George Floyd’s and offering to fund a wrongful death lawsuit against responding officers.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Vickrum Digwa stabbed and chased Nowak after an argument. The defense argues Digwa acted in self-defense following an alleged racial slur and physical confrontation.
The response: Debate around the case has focused on comparisons to Floyd’s death and differences in media coverage. Critics note the cases involve very different circumstances, as Floyd died during a police arrest while the UK case centers on a private altercation still being litigated in court.
