I want to comment on the tariff refund portal.

Here in the Netherlands I just got a letter telling me that because of a recent policy change some of us are entitled to a payment of a few hundred Euros. This process is "out opt" meaning that the money was already on its way to me, but if I didn't want the money for the some reason there were forms I could fill out to be exempted. Basically, I was entitled to the money, so they were already sending it, but it's a free country so if I didn't want to take it I didn't have to.

So why oh why do Americans have to fill out paperwork, on a website that they might not even know exists, in order to get their tariff refunds?

The trigger point for me are the companies designed to buy that "debt." Sounds like more of the same for our country, the rich get richer with back-alley deals and the american people are left holding the bag.

Look at our senate not even trying to hold Ellison accountable for this massive merger, based on some comment about cnn remaining neutral as if that's a valid point.

I was thinking the same thing. I keep waiting for hopeful news ha but every time it seems attached to something suspicious

You know exactly why it’s like this :)

Rich getting richer. Tariffs go up, price goes up for importers, so the price goes up for consumers.

Now the importers get a refund. Even though we, the consumers, are the ones who paid the tariffs to begin with.
