there we go! I always do things thinking it'll be worth it if it touches at least one person. I can go into the weekend feeling good. Have a great one Jared! 👊🏼

I love how you think. Think global, Act Local

It's time to start a neighborhood mutual aid society. Know your neighbors needs and let them know yours - that is how they will get filled.

I freaking love you Phil, because you do not let us wallow in the darkness of this hole we are in - you remind us to look up and start climbing!

Great post, Phil. You're right. People haven't lost all hope, yet. We CAN make the changes we wish to see in our world. It just takes action, not only words! ❤️

I constantly try to talk this approach up. Like, we can complain until we're all blue in the face and pretend like the problems are too big for any of us, but that ignores the fact that when people act in mass, it matters. It changes things. If we all do the same small thing, it's suddenly a big thing. One person who boycotts a company won't make a difference, sure. But if thousands of people do it all on the same day? That will make waves.

We need to stop believing that we can't make a difference. If we can get a critical mass of believers activated, we can make change happen in this world.

Think doom, get doom. Think... try? Get optimism. Great post. Appreciated as a parent. Love your face too!

When asked “how’s it going” or “how’s your morning” or another question of the like, an older man I used to work with would reply “Well I woke up six feet above the ground instead of below”. I used to just write it off as a silly joke. But the more I got to know him, the more I realized that he was genuinely just happy being alive. Any day he woke up, was a good day. As long as you’re alive, you’ve beaten the odds. There are way more people who are already dead, than people who get to experience today. Today is a good day, and if I wake up tomorrow? That’ll be a good day too.

Thank you for this motivational post I think a lot of people need this right now “you figure out the future. Not by waiting for a hero, but by being the person who shows up.” This is how we can fight this system that is against us, by showing up to make changes on a local level. No one is coming to save us. We need to be the change that brings good to a world ravaged by corruption and evil. Take the bull by the horns and be the change you want to see.

Thank you for this Phil truly.

It’s great to see that people can still be inspired even as things seem so scary. This has honestly got me wanting to see what can be done up here in the Frozen North

This was my problem with the new Star Trek series for a while. Not because they were "woke", but because they were so, unapologetically, depressing. 90s Trek had its dark moments, DS9 had seasons about the lead up and break out of a freaking war, but it never felt depressing. Even at the darkest points, there was still the undertone of, "we just need to get through this crap and there's a light on the other side."

But lately, everything has been like, depression porn. Wallowing in how miserable we are. I don't need that, the news is already that, I need some light in this tunnel.

So yeah, Project Hail Mary was what I needed right now.

I've seen it 3 times, read and listened to the book 7 times, and I'm so so so glad you wrote this! I couldn't agree more. We need people to read good books and ask hard questions. Because knowing the truth is not enough. AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE✨

Thank you! I too saw project Hail Mary and I never go to the theater anymore. And I too was in great need of something inspirational and not just dystopian. Good that you focused on the problem-solving aspect. I was impressed at that aspect of the plot.

Problems are opportunities to find solutions. I know that may be cliche; it is also true.

I watch this reactor, Mr. Biscuit Speaks. He takes a philosophical mindset to the, primarily music, videos he reacts to. He also takes a christian perspective to them, as he is a man of faith. While I am not, I do find that aspect interesting, too. Maybe because it isn't blind faith? Anyway, in one of his reactions (I want to say it was to Ren's "Pocket full of Pain") he asks the question "Is spreading hope a moral obligation". I think about that alot. It's stuck with me since the video came out. I remember a time when I didn't have to think about morals and values much because they were a matter of course. And yet, here we are. The more time goes by, the more I lean towards maybe, yes. Maybe, yes, we do have a moral obligation to spread hope. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this post.

This was an amazing post Phil. I agree with everything that you said here.

Also, let's talk about how that movie gave us hope that we can get along with strangers no matter how different we are. We should all have one common goal, be the best we can be at what we do and leave the planet we are on better than when arrived. That is what that movie said to me

I listened to the book on Audible way before I saw a movie trailer. I love the book and I am sure the movie will be just as good.
