🏛️ NYT Report Details White House Situation Room Talks on Epstein Fallout

A New York Times investigation reports that for months, senior Trump administration officials repeatedly convened in the White House Situation Room, a space normally reserved for national security crises, to manage political fallout from Jeffrey Epstein-related disclosures.
According to the report, the discussions centered on protecting Trump’s image and limiting damage to Republicans heading into the midterms, with survivors’ calls for accountability receiving comparatively little attention.
The approach: Officials reportedly weighed how much information to release, who could be blamed if files proved embarrassing, and how to respond to ongoing pressure from Congress and from advocates for Epstein’s victims. The White House has not commented publicly on the reported meetings.

📊 CFTC Proposes New Rules for Sports Betting and Prediction Markets

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission released a 267-page proposal for new prediction-market rules covering platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. Betting on final scores and stats stays legal, but wagers on in-game fights, injuries, and pre-collegiate sports are banned.
The rules would also ban luck-based casino bets like roulette while allowing skill games such as poker. They would also prohibit contracts tied to terrorism, assassination, or war. Critics say the industry has far less oversight than traditional gambling, leaving it open to insider trading.
The pushback: The American Gaming Association says these platforms dodge state and tribal gambling rules, while the CFTC’s chair says prediction markets work differently than casinos. Arizona, Minnesota, and New York are fighting the CFTC in court over the issue.

:📈 Today’s Poll: Betting Boundaries
The CFTC’s new proposal would ban certain prediction-market bets, like those on in-game fights or luck-based casino games, while still allowing wagers on game outcomes and skill-based contests. Supporters say the rules add needed guardrails, while critics argue prediction markets should either face full gambling regulation or be left alone entirely.
Should prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket be regulated more like traditional casinos and sportsbooks?

📱 Ms. Rachel Draws Mixed Reactions after ICE Detention Center Visit

Children’s YouTuber Ms. Rachel visited an ICE detention center in New Jersey to meet detained families’ children. She later shared a video of herself singing with the families, drawing backlash from critics who called it propaganda and praise from supporters for giving detained kids a voice.
The episode reflects ongoing debate over ICE’s detention of young children. Advocacy groups and child-development experts argue detention is especially harmful for toddlers, while administration officials say procedures aim to keep families together during processing.
The numbers: ICE has detained over 500 children age three or younger since Trump’s term began, about 25 daily, ten times the previous 12-month rate. Ms. Rachel also delivered children’s letters from a Texas facility to Congress as Trump signed a $70 billion ICE and CBP funding bill.

The Gossamer Albatross
On June 12, 1979, cyclist Bryan Allen pedaled the Gossamer Albatross, an ultra-light aircraft built by Paul MacCready’s team, across the English Channel from Folkestone, England, to Cap Gris Nez, France.
