Reacher Star Got in a Street Fight. His Neighbor Admitted He Started It.
The big picture: Alan Ritchson was involved in a physical altercation with a neighbor in Brentwood, Tennessee over the weekend. Video went viral. The neighbor admitted to TMZ that he instigated the physical confrontation. Ritchson’s only public response: a Napoleon quote about enemies making mistakes.
Why it matters: It’s a celebrity story, but the dynamics are interesting: one party gave multiple media interviews admitting fault, while the other said nothing and let the situation speak for itself.
What happened: Ronnie Taylor says he saw Ritchson riding motorcycles through the neighborhood on Saturday and was upset about it. On Sunday, he confronted Ritchson again while the actor was riding with what appeared to be his young sons.
Video shows Taylor stepping in front of Ritchson’s motorcycle, causing a crash. A second video shows Ritchson hitting Taylor multiple times on the ground.
Taylor told TMZ he pushed Ritchson twice and that Ritchson “got off his bike and kicked the crap outta me.” TMZ also reported Taylor “dared” Ritchson to hit him.
The investigation: Brentwood Police responded after multiple 911 calls around 2 p.m. Sunday. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
Ritchson’s response: After days of silence while Taylor gave multiple interviews, Ritchson posted a single image on Tuesday with no caption:
“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” — Napoleon Bonaparte
The bottom line: A neighborhood dispute over dirt bikes turned physical. The neighbor admitted on the record that he stepped in front of a motorcycle, pushed the rider twice, and dared him to fight. Then he gave multiple media interviews saying all of that. The other guy quoted Napoleon. Make of that what you will.
