Alex Jones Says He’s Losing It. MTG Calls It Evil. Georgia Votes Tomorrow.
The big picture: Alex Jones publicly questioned Trump’s mental state over the Iran war, saying his behavior is “way more erratic” and “his speech is not coherent all the time.” Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene went further, calling Trump “insane” and his administration “complicit” and “evil.” Tomorrow, the runoff to fill Greene’s old Georgia seat is being called one of the first electoral tests of voter sentiment on the war. Joe Rogan and Theo Von called the U.S. “the terrorists” on air last week.
Why it matters: This isn’t criticism from the left. This is from Alex Jones, MTG, Joe Rogan, and Theo Von — the people who built the media ecosystem that made MAGA possible. The Georgia runoff in one of the reddest districts in the state will be the first real data point on whether the fractures at the top of the movement are reaching actual voters.
Alex Jones: Responding to Trump’s Easter post, Jones said: “It is way more erratic, his speech is not coherent all the time, you cannot deny that this is happening.” He added he’s “trying to salvage something before the midterms” but doesn’t “have a lot of hope.”
MTG: Greene posted: “Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit. This is NOT what we promised the American people. This is not making America great again, this is evil.”
The Georgia test: The New York Times calls tomorrow’s runoff “one of the first electoral tests of how voters are responding to the Iran war.” Democrat Shawn Harris has spoken against the war and focused on costs. Republican Clayton Fuller is a Trump loyalist defending the president. Greene hasn’t endorsed either but her Iran position aligns more with the Democrat. The NYT: “A competitive performance by Mr. Harris, even in defeat, could offer another warning signal for the Republican Party.”
The podcast coalition: Joe Rogan and Theo Von last week: “I can’t believe we went to this war. You’re the fucking terrorists! You want to stop them, stand in front of the mirror and start there.” Multiple reports suggest Trump is losing the podcast bro coalition that powered his 2024 victory.
By the numbers:
36% — Trump’s approval rating (Reuters, most recent)
35% — approval for Iran strikes
0 — formal endorsements from MTG in the Georgia runoff
1 — of the reddest districts in Georgia now being called a test of the war
The bottom line: This isn’t CNN or progressive Twitter doing the criticizing. It’s Alex Jones, MTG, Joe Rogan, and Theo Von. The people who were supposed to be the base. They’re saying he’s lost it, the war is wrong, the rhetoric is incoherent, and the administration is complicit. Not all MAGA voters have moved. BUT the fractures at the top of the movement are widening, and tomorrow’s Georgia runoff is the first real data on whether they’re reaching actual voters. If a deep-red district shows meaningful movement, it’s not just one race. It’s a warning that the coalition is coming apart over the war Trump chose to start.
